Job Description

The Senior Financial Risk Analyst will manage Credit Risk, Strategic Risk and Market Risk (Liquidity Risk, Interest Rate Risk, Foreign Exchange Risk and Investment Risk) by ensuring that there is adequate ability to identify, measure, monitor and control of inherent Risks, involve in identification and analysis of potential risk areas threatening the assets, earning capacity or success of Tropical Bank Limited, as well as change prediction of future trends.

Duties and Responsibilities (Brief description)
• Assist in enhancement and review of the Bank’s credit policies & standards in order to ensure that these reflect the best practice and regulate the risk assets of the bank
Develop and enhance the Credit reporting & monitoring framework which meets the requirements of various external & internal stakeholders and ensure timely and accurate delivery of credit risk reports.
• Develop methodologies for measurement of Credit Portfolio across the bank.
• Enforce adherence to all Market Risk policies and standards
• Conduct periodic collateral monitoring reviews to ascertain the condition and adequacy of the pledged collateral and advise management on any existing and prospective risk exposure. • Monitor the Bank’s business portfolio to ensure that the bank’s credit portfolio has an appropriate level of concentration per sector, product, gender, geography, large exposures and insider lending.
Contribute proactively to various risk related projects and initiatives owing to synergies (e.g., stress testing, IFRS 9 and Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Process (ICAAP); especially on aspects pertaining to credit measurement and sourcing/ management of data for these initiatives.
• Evaluate the soundness of credit approval decisions (including counterparty) through review of both funded and non-funded facilities to establish authenticity & completeness of credit proposal documents in line with the bank’s underwriting standards.
Analyze the Bank’s market position and risk modelling to assess the Value at Risk (VaR) measurement as per the risk management framework.
• In collaboration with the Treasury department, maintain up to date Contingency and Recovery plans to deal with emergencies.
• Review all placements and Investments made by the institution to other banks to ensure that management is informed of any maturing investments for proper planning.
• Continuously review and analyze the net open positions to ensure that the bank remains compliant with the internal and regulatory limits.
• Daily review of the liquidity position of the bank as prepared by the Treasury department.
• Timely submission of daily exposure reports, ensuring that reports are robust, efficient and accurate, with sufficient commentary necessary to guide management decision making.
• Provide input for the Risk appetite statement with respect to Credit and Market Risk limits
Investigate limit breaches and escalate them according to policy and furnish management with information needed to make decisions.
• Review month end reconciliation of all Treasury suspense accounts, as well as fixed income positions and follow through with appropriate action to resolve any outstanding issues.
• Conduct preliminary investigations on Frauds and make appropriate recommendations.
• Perform other assignments from time to time.

Key Performance Indicators
• Timely preparation of the Financial Risk Dashboard for review by Risk Manager
• Closure of exceptions/findings in audit reports/onsite examiner reports
All end month reports prepared and ready for review by the 5th day of the next month
• Timely escalation of exceptions noted
• Percentage of Non-performing Loans to Total Loans and Advances
• Credit health checks conducted quarterly.
• Percentage of Written off loans.

• Bachelor’s Degree in a Business-related Field from a recognized University.
• Professional qualification (CPA, ACCA) or on-going pursuit will be an added advantage.
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a related function with a consistently good performance record for the last 1 year is desirable.
