Job Description

The Project Manager will provide strategic and operational leadership to planning and
implementation of the Vanilla Initiative for Building Resilience and Nurture Thriving
Communities (VIBRANT Project) and ensure regular liaison with project partners and strategic
stakeholders (including the donor) and supervise field activity implementation, with support
from the Head of Unit-Food Security and Agribusiness. He/She will ensure the creative
implementation of the project, adherence to overall technical and programmatic quality in
implementation, compliance with donor rules and regulations, and the timely and quality
submission of all deliverables.
He/she will work with; the Marketing officers, extension workers and M&E Officer,
community structures, cooperatives and other players to ensure that the project is well
managed, implemented and meets the highest standards in terms of results and processes.
Specific Job roles:
1. Provide leadership and supervision of the Vanilla Initiative for Building Resilience and
Nurture Thriving Communities (VIBRANT Project) project staff and ensure high level
performance.
2. Work closely with the national actors in the vanilla value chain
3. Develop the project annual, quarterly and monthly plans and budgets
4. Undertake project budget monitoring, analysis and reporting.
5. Ensure timely and accurate reporting of progress performance to the line supervisor.
6. Undertake documentation of project progress reports based on agreed project reporting
schedules and timelines and ensure timely submission to the HOU for review and
submission to the donor
7. Ensure coordination with ENABEL and other relevant partners to ensure harmonized
implementation of the different components of the project in Rwenzori Region
8. Actively participate in planning, organising and participating in KRC-Uganda technical
meetings based on established KRC-Uganda guidelines.
9. Undertake training of project staff in identified capacity needs and gaps in line with the
project objectives and results
10. Undertake fundraising for new projects and maintain effective external engagements for
the Institution.
Qualification, Skills and Experience
Qualification: Master’s degree in Agricultural Economics, Agribusiness, or related field.

ï‚· Experience working with and managing Livelihood/agricultural projects

ï‚· Understanding of the Vanilla Value Chain (Production, value addition, marketing etc.)

ï‚· Knowledge on issues connected to VSLA, group dynamics, marketing associations and
cooperatives.

ï‚· Capable of working independently

ï‚· Demonstrated experience in building excellent relationships with a wide range of
internal and external stakeholders

ï‚· Excellent communication skill and able to synthesize information from various sources

ï‚· Good oral/written and interpersonal skills

ï‚· Confident communication and documentation skills; ability to represent the project to
a variety of stakeholders in a range of fora

ï‚· Able to work on a cross-cultural environment with multi-national staff.

 Good knowledge of Microsoft office tools (PowerPoint, Excel, word, etc.)

 Able to produce high quality reports/papers.

 Experience in fundable proposal writing
Experience: Minimum of 5 years in project management, preferably in Agricultural or
livelihood development projects specifically in the Vanilla Value Chain.
