Job Description

The Production Planning and Control Manager is responsible for managing and scheduling the allocation of human resources, raw materials, work centers, machinery, and production processes. The Production Planning and Control Manager also ensures appropriate production rate to reduce delivery delays, collaborates with the Marketing and Sales Department to identify and resolve quality concerns.

Salary Scale: K3.2 (1)

Report to: Senior Manager (Production Planning, Quality Inspection and Testing)

Direct Reports:

(1) Principal Production Planning Engineer

(2) Principal Production Control Engineer

(3) Principal Logistics and Warehousing Officer

(4) Principal Maintenance Engineer

Key Functions:

(1) Planning: Determine production requirements based on plant capacity and production specifications.

(2) Routing: Determine the path raw materials should flow within the plant.

(3) Scheduling: Determine the time required to perform the entire production process as routed, making allowance for all factors concerned as well as maintenance and repair of machines used in production process to avoid downtime or delays and that production time is kept at optimum level and thereby increasing the turnover time.

(4) Loading: Undertake appropriate workplace planning to ensure optimum productivity by guaranteeing proper utilization of resources and priorities’ job order at different workstations.

(5) Dispatching: Release job orders and their instructions following the routing and scheduling directions to ensure that all items are in place for the employees to do their jobs.

(6) Resolve Production Issues; Identify any bottlenecks or delays in production and ensures necessary labor, materials, and other resources are available to relieve production bottlenecks and delays and escalate unresolved issues to management promptly.

(7) Administration and Management: Supervision and overall management of the Business Development Division and its activities, providing technical guidance, project management and leadership and performance monitoring.

(8) Skilling and Capacity Development: Lead, mentor, develop, coach, train and appraise personnel in the Production Planning and Control Division to help them be successful in their roles and to progress in their skills and abilities.

(9) Reporting and Analysis: Develop and implement Monthly Work Plans necessary for executing the above duties and responsibilities and Performance Reports detailing Production Planning and Control aspects of the Production process.

(10) Any other duties assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications

(1) Bachelor’s Degree (Honors) in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering and Management or Related Field from a recognized Institution.

(2) Master’s Degree in Operations Management, Lean Manufacturing, Business Administration or in a Related Field from a recognized Institution.

(3) Continuous Professional Development Certificates in at least two (2) of the following areas: Innovation, Technology commercialization, Leadership, Management, Strategy, Automotive Product Development, Vehicle Production or Project Management.

(4) Registered Engineer with Engineers Registration Board.

Minimum Experience

The applicant should have General Working Experience of at least Five (5) years. The applicant should have served in a Supervisory/Management Position in Production Planning and Control related field in a reputable organization for at least Three (3) years.
