Job Description
ob Purpose
The overall purpose is to share study information, consent participants, give health education
talks, conduct interviews, data collection; and obtain study specimens from participants
recruited into the study. The position may also be required to participate in provision of
medical care to participants dependent on the study protocol and make participant refer where
necessary.
Roles & Responsibilities
• Provision of study information and obtain informed consent from study participants;
• Mobilise, screen and enrol eligible participants into the study;
• Contribute to participant retention by tracking/following up participants to ensure
attendance of scheduled study visits;
• Conduct interviews with study participants and collect the relevant quality data. The
position is also tasked with the responsibility of performing quality control of the data
collected. Depending on the study dynamics, the position may be tasked with transferring
data collected and synchronising it onto the server;
• Perform study procedures as required by the protocol i.e.;

• Phlebotomy;
• Vital check or observations;
• Anthropometric measurements among others;
• Collecting other specimen;
• Dispensing drugs among others; and,
• Label study samples collected from study participants.
• Provide counselling services to study participants;
• Make referral of study participants in accordance with the guidelines and protocol;
• Work with the team to have samples timely transported or transferred to the laboratory
for analysis;
• Provide health education and awareness talks to study participants and communities;
• Provide medical care to study participants and report any adverse events to the study
clinicians or coordinators;
• Participate in stock management to ensure timely requisitions for supplies;
• The position may be responsible for holding petty cash meant for re-imbruing participants;
• Ensure proper documentation and adherence to the study protocol;
• Attend and give presentations in CMEs; and,
• Perform any other duty assigned by the PI or the study coordinator.
Person Specification
• Diploma in Nursing/comprehensive, any other degree qualifications in Nursing;
• Registered Nursing Officer, current licensure of The Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council
• Short courses on research methods, GCP training, counselling;
• At least 2 years’ experience in clinical and research setting;
• User knowledge in computer applications;
• Previous experience of interviewing older persons;
• Should possess nursing and or midwifery skills; and,
• Counselling skills;
