Program Summary
Mercy Corps drives high-quality, analytical work in tough places. We have been operating in Uganda since 2006 and currently manage a breadth of programs in Acholi, Karamoja and West Nile sub-regions with funding from the basket of donors. We partner with private and civil society actors to systemically broaden opportunities for people across northern Uganda. Much of our work focuses on crowding- in private sector actors to deliver highly demanded but poorly supplied products and services that enhance the growth and competitiveness of the agricultural sector and improve the overall quality of life for the poor. General Position Summary
The IT & Logistics Trainee will be assisting the IT & Logistics Officer in day to day running of the organization’s IT department to ensure that work moves on well for the rest of the MC Teams.

Essential Job Responsibilities
Systems Administration Services
• Configuration of workstations and other network devices e.g., printers
• User administration on network systems
• Installation and configuration of new or updated application software
• Provide day to day, onsite helpdesk support to network and computer users.
• Identify trouble spots ensuring any problems are mitigated to minimize interruptions in daily operations.
• Liaise directly with Internet Service providers to troubleshoot connectivity issues as needed.
• Troubleshoot and undertake 1st level repair of hardware, operating systems and applications before escalation to either hardware/software vendors.
• Updating trackers for the IT Department e.g.: Invoice tracker, Repair Tracker, Operations Support Tracker.
• Making sure that issues reported and resolved are closed on the tracker.

Maintenance
• Proactively identify and determine emerging IT needs to improve operations.
• Servicing of software resources
• Servicing of IT equipment including Laptops, printers, racks and Desktops to ensure they are clean and in good working condition.

External
• Work on payments for vendors to ensure that they are paid on time.
• Communicate with Service providers to ensure that MC gets the right services.

Logistics
• Tracking of all assets to ensure accurate record-keeping of Mercy Corps and donor assets, including exceptional items requiring registration and movement tracking, according to the Mercy Corps Field Asset Management Manual
• Managing the warehouse and ensuring items are stored and managed properly as per the provisions in the Field Warehouse Management Policy

Other Specific Duties
• Update asset masterlist and registry, check asset movement forms and asset disposal forms. Tracking all assets as per the guidelines given.
• Receiving assets from the custodian at their end of service and complete logistics section of end of service checklists for outgoing staff.
• Physical verification of assets with finance at the field office location and report the discrepancies with detail. Coordination of secured transportation of all collected assets to specified locations through proper documentation (i.e.: Waybill etc.)
• Arranging IT and logistics files (including archiving at Kampala) for closed offices.
• Any other logistics or IT tasks assigned by supervisor.

Accountability: Accountable to all Mercy Corps policies and regulations as established by HQ and Mercy Corps Uganda

Works Directly with: Operations, Finance and Program staff. Liaise with counterparts in Kampala and other offices and work with all MC Uganda staff regarding in-country travels and accommodation

Knowledge and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or other related field.
• At least one year’s experience in a similar position and or similar roles preferably with an International Non-Government Organization, Private Sectors and in a multicultural environment. Demonstrated excellence in ICT troubleshooting skills.
• Very good writing and communication skills. Good negotiation, and representation, skills and the ability to work comfortably with an ethnically diverse staff.
• Keen attention to detail, ability to follow procedures, ability to transparently manage stores, filing, and meet deadlines, work independently and cooperatively with team members.
• Proven ability to innovatively solve problems.
