Group Cost and Management Accountant at Utopia Uganda, Kampala

JOB SUMMARY

The Group Cost and Management Accountant is responsible for overseeing the financial health of all business units. The primary focus is to safeguard the group company assets through rigorous reconciliation, cost-benefit analysis, and ensuring that the retail, hospitality, and rental projects remain profitable and lean.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

– Inter-unit Reconciliations: Perform weekly and monthly reconciliations of stock and cash transfers between the retail store, hotel, and supermarket.

– Cost Control & Analysis: Monitor the “Cost of Goods Sold” (COGS) for the bakery and retail outlets. Identify and report on price variances in raw materials or inventory.

– Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of annual budgets for each business unit and perform monthly variance analysis (Actual vs. Budget).

– Audit & Compliance: Conduct random physical stock counts and cash-on-hand audits at GNS Hotel and Costmart Supermarket.

– Financial Reporting: Generate consolidated monthly management reports highlighting the profit centers and loss-making areas across the group.

– Perform other duties as assigned.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

– Education: Degree in Commerce (Accounting), BBA, or Finance. Progress in CPA/ACCA (Level 2 minimum).

– Experience: 3+ years in a busy retail or manufacturing environment handling multiple cost centers.

– Technical Skills: Advanced Excel (Pivot tables, V-Lookups) and mastery of Tally Prime or QuickBooks.

Competitive salary of UGX 1,500,000 Net
