Key Responsibilities:
Reports to: Programme Manage
Duty station: Kamwenge
Key Result Areas:
Transportation of Staff and Goods:
- Safely transport staff, visitors, and goods to various destinations as required.
- Ensure that all passengers use seat belts and follow safety protocols.
- Assist with loading and unloading of goods and material
Vehicle Maintenance:
- Conduct daily vehicle checks (oil, fuel, brakes, tires, lights, etc.) and report any issues to the Logistics Officer.
- Ensure the vehicle is regularly serviced and maintained in accordance with the World Vision Uganda’s Fleet Policy.
- Keep the vehicle clean, both inside and out, at all times
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of vehicle usage, including mileage, fuel consumption, and service history.
- Complete and submit trip reports, logbooks, and fuel records as required.
- Report any accidents, defects, or mechanical problems immediately
Compliance and Safety:
- Adhere to all national traffic laws and regulations.
- Follow the organization’s safety procedures and policies, including the use of seat belts and adherence to speed limits.
- Ensure all vehicle documents (insurance, registration, etc.) are up-to-date and available in the vehicle
- Monitor the security of vehicle, authorized passengers and luggage in line with the vehicle policy.
- Ensure non WV staff have signed the waiver form before boarding WV vehicles
Support to Operations:
- Assist in the delivery and collection of mail, documents, and other items as required.
- Provide logistical support during field missions and events, including setting up equipment and arranging transport.
- Assist with other administrative and operational tasks as needed
- Report all major and minor damages and accidents on the vehicle at hand to the supervisor in line with World Vision vehicle policies
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- At least Ordinary Level Certificate
- Formal driver training certification.
- Experience in driving, with clean driving record of not less than 3 years, preferably with an NGO in northern Uganda.
- Valid driver’s license for the class of vehicle being driven.
- Must have Classes B, C1 and D1. Other Classes are added advantage, especially Class A1.
- Must be Computer literate.
- Basic knowledge of vehicle mechanics and the ability to perform minor repairs.
- Familiarity with the area of operation and local routes.
- Ability to use GPS and other navigation tools.
- Ability to work in diverse teams with cultural sensitivity, team player, high level sense of maturity and fast to adapt to working in remote and emergency working setting.
- Proactive personality, self-driven and strongly motivated, Team player, able to work with limited supervision.
