Key Responsibilities:
Purpose of the Position
The Driver is responsible for providing safe, reliable, and timely transportation for staff and goods, ensuring the vehicle is maintained in a clean and serviceable condition, and following all organizational policies and legal requirements. The role supports the logistical and operational functions of World Vision, contributing to the overall mission and objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Transportation of Staff and Goods:
Safely transport staff, visitors, and goods to various destinations as required.
Ensure that all passengers use seat belts and follow safety protocols.
Assist with loading and unloading of goods and materials.
Vehicle Maintenance:
Conduct daily vehicle checks (oil, fuel, brakes, tires, lights, etc.) and report any issues to the Logistics Officer.
Ensure the vehicle is regularly serviced and maintained in accordance with the World Vision Uganda’s Fleet Policy.
Keep the vehicle clean, both inside and out, at all times.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of vehicle usage, including mileage, fuel consumption, and service history.
Complete and submit trip reports, logbooks, and fuel records as required.
Report any accidents, defects, or mechanical problems immediately.
Compliance and Safety:
Adhere to all national traffic laws and regulations.
Follow the organization’s safety procedures and policies, including the use of seat belts and adherence to speed limits.
Ensure all vehicle documents (insurance, registration, etc.) are up-to-date and available in the vehicle.
Support to Operations:
Assist in the delivery and collection of mail, documents, and other items as required.
Provide logistical support during field missions and events, including setting up equipment and arranging transport.
Assist with other administrative and operational tasks as needed
Report all major and minor damages and accidents on the vehicle at hand to the supervisor in line with World Vision vehicle policies.
Qualifications and Experience:
Education:
High School Certificate or equivalent.
Formal driver training certification.
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of driving experience, preferably in an NGO or international organization.
Experience driving a variety of vehicles, including 4x4s.
Technical Skills:
Valid driver’s license for the class of vehicle being driven.
Basic knowledge of vehicle mechanics and the ability to perform minor repairs.
Familiarity with the area of operation and local routes.
Ability to use GPS and other navigation tools.
Language Skills:
Proficiency in English (spoken and written).
Knowledge of local languages is an advantage.

Ability to work under pressure and in difficult conditions.
Punctual, reliable, and respectful.
Working Conditions:
May require long hours of driving and occasional travel to remote areas.
Exposure to varying weather conditions and difficult terrain.
