I have heard a lot of people say that the Gospel is not about what God gives to us. It’s about Jesus only, and i would like to make known to you that it’s a lie. The very words ” New Testament” prove to us that there is a will (a legal document that proves the right to inheritance ) left for us. Preaching the gospel means declaring the contents of the will , people should not come and serve a God whose will does not satisfy them. In Mark 5 the bible says of the woman who had suffered for 12 yrs with hermorrhage ” when she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment.For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole.” What else did this woman hear about Jesus that inspired her to come to Jesus except to have heard that Jesus heals? If the people had only preached a Jesus that takes people to heaven only the woman would not have been inspired for her healing but no they told this suffering woman of Jesus the healer , the Lord and the Saviour.
I will never apologise for telling my world to bring their needs to Jesus. I do not promise to make anyone rich or healed but Jesus did and i go announcing his will and promises and not my own.The Lord Jesus said in Mark 11:24 ” Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.” and i go telling my world that there is a way to have what things soever ye desire , ofcourse they get curious and i tell them that Jesus said ” I am the way”. Sometimes as i go preaching people ask me, ” Does your church help people , do they solve spiritual problems and can they help me get a job?” And i have never thought of any other answer but to say ” That is exactly why Jesus is inviting you, to bless you.” This never offends sinners but it offends religious people who dont believe in receiving what Christ has purchased for us.
Jack Coe used to say , “God is going to heal the blind tonight*” , thats quite a good invitation. I have a good God and he has sent me with the news of remission of sins to the biggest sinner, God sent me to tell my world that it is him who seeks to bless them and lift them thats why i am excited to preach , the news is just too good and its all free. EVERYTHING JESUS DID, HE DID FOR OUR BENEFIT , IT IS THEREFORE OUR RIGHT TO HEAR ALL THAT HE DID FOR US AND NO PART SHOULD BE LEFT OUT. We do not give people false hope, the bible says ” Christ in you is the hope of glory”.
