” Wherefore, sirs, be of good cheer: for I believe God, that it shall be even as it was told me.”
Acts 27:25
Paul said these words to folks who were in the midst of great trouble and could smell death coming. Verse 20 describes the situation these people faced, Dr Luke said,
” And when neither sun nor stars in many days appeared, and no small tempest lay on us, all hope that we should be saved was then taken away.” Everything looked dark and all hope was lost and in the midst of that trouble Paul could stand up and say, ” Be of Good Cheer”. Notice the trouble persisted for many days and all hope for salvation vanished.
Maybe you are there in a situation where all hope for change is taken away, where no sun or star is shinning, maybe it’s been that way for many days or even years, I say to you, ” BE OF GOOD CHEER”. I declare to you a mystery, ” CHRIST IN YOU IS THE HOPE OF GLORY”. Yes there is hope for you. It can not get worse with you. Now you have to believe this word coming to you. Don’t ask, ” How does he know it’s not going to get worse?” just believe the word and praise God. 2 Chronicles 20:20 says, ” Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.”
Paul didnt say, ” gentleman we must be of good cheer after we get out of the storm alive lest we deceive ourselves and we die in the storm”. He asked the folks to be of Good cheer when ” there was no sun nor stars in many days appearing”. The folks responded and acted on the words of the Apostle and all of them got out safely. Jesus said, ” These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” It doesnt matter what you are facing, be of good cheer. Being anxious is not going to change anything, complaining, crying and all kinds of worrying isn’t going to work miracles for you. We tap into God’s power by Faith in his word not by worry, there are people living under bridges suffering more than you, they will remain there until they act on the word of God. God isn’t gonna do a thing more than he has already done. Be of Good Cheer, this is what God says you should do for a miracle. Cheer up, the word works.
