Services in Übersee gGmbH (DÜ) has been placing skilled workers with Bread for the World partner organizations for around 60 years. During this time, we have signed a total of almost 7,000 skilled workers worldwide. In recent years, Africa has been a regional focus. The specific needs of our partner organizations are always identified in an intensive, joint dialogue. The specialists’ fields of activity range from peace and reconciliation work to communication and PR consulting to educational work and organizational development.
In addition to a high level of professional competence, strong methodological, social and intercultural skills are particularly important to us. These include, among other things, analytical and communication skills, but also flexibility, resilience and empathy. Identification with Christian values is also of great importance to us as a church ministry.
In a two-day assessment center, we select potential specialists for the development service and the civil peace service. You will then be included in a pool of applicants or directly selected for the position. Participation in the development policy seminars of overseas services is open to all applicants from the pool for two years. Every year, around 40 to 50 specialists receive a development service contract, which is usually three years.
As one of the seven nationally recognized development service providers, we conclude contracts in accordance with the Development Workers Act. DÜ is a 100 percent subsidiary of the Evangelical Work for Diakonia and Development. Around 20 employees in the “Development Policy Specialists” department ensure the professional search, selection, preparation and personnel support of specialists.
