I am interested in this position of Youth empowerment and Skills Officer because it perfectly aligns with my passion of helping youth. It also aligns with my 8 years work experience with young people both in urban, conflict areas and rural. I am a practical leader and effective communicator with good approach to problem solving with positive attitude. I am skilled in skills required by this position namely training and facilitation skills, computer application skills, creativity, behavioral competencies, working with people in insecure environments like Teso -Karamoja. Work & Experience
• Collaborate with the project director to plan, coordinate and deliver high-quality and provide capacity building to communities, partners, conduct needs assessment and risk analysis. • Lead the implementation of all Youth and child protection activities as guided by the policy, national and international standards. • Conduct extensive capacity assessment for TVETs and artisans and technically advise the Organization and Partners • Support in training identified Youth and Women groups in Village savings and Loans Associations (VSLAs) • Support supervision and monitoring of VSLAs groups. • Coordinate with partner organizations and TVETs skilling centers to train our identified Youth. • Conduct exchange learning visits • Build and maintain strong working relationships with partner organizations in mental health, support to OVCs, counselling services projects within Lango subregion. • Monitor project budgets in coordination with finance and admin officer to ensure timely, efficient and transparent use of funds and provide accountability as per the organization finance policy. • Coordinate, plan, and supervise child protection activities to meet the project objectives as per the work plan. • Train staff and stakeholders on child protection, safety and against GBV and coordinate to referral pathways. • Technically support counselors in the identification and documentation of vulnerable children at risk in the community. • Carry out quarterly community dialogues and awareness on child protection and GBV prevention. • Represent the organization in relevant coordination platforms and forums at national and regional levels, advocating for child protection and household economic empowerment. • Set clear performance goals for the direct care staff (Counselors, social workers, educators) and conduct quarterly /termly performance reviews. • Work with heads of departments and identify capacity gaps among the project staff and enhance their capacity for effective and efficient performance. • Work with departments to organize feedback sessions with project stakeholders to assess project quality and improve the quality of interventions. • Document and share innovative skills from Youth and women groups and share with Donors and Partners. Monitoring, Reporting and Evaluation • Lead and support the timely submission of weekly, monthly and quarterly reports. • Ensure systematic tracking of project outputs and outcomes, develop success stories and lead community engagement initiatives. • Support monitoring and evaluation department to track implementation of community engagement and interventions in conflicts affected areas of Lango subregion and to ensure activities are in-line with the work plans developed. • Work with M & E teams to develop monitoring tools to assess the progress of capacity building intervention for communities and partners. Supervisory Responsibilities: • Lead weekly team meetings, weekly professional development activities, staff training and retreat. • Support to provide holistic development of a child and advise all direct care staff on areas of expertise. • Oversee all direct care staff, which consists of our education, sponsorship and community counsellors. • Review and approve direct care staff’s weekly plans and travels • Ensure direct care staff have materials and resources needed to implement program activities. • Provide regular encouragement, guidance, and feedback to direct care staff regarding their performance, including strengths and areas of growth. • Monitor staff compliance with organizational policies. Leadership responsibilities: • Engage and participate in leadership team meetings, goal setting, planning, decision making, and implementation of strategic plans. • Lead and manage supervisees by ensuring clarity over work plans and prioritize, providing supportive supervision, guidance and mentorship to foster effective teamwork. • Deputize the program Executive Direction • Strategic development Responsibilities: • Take lead in the development of Organization 5 year’s strategic plan. • Develop strategic initiatives and implement programmatic improvements. • Coordinate and liaise with local area leaders, city officials, and other relevant authorities to coordinate community engagement and ensure organizational compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. Communications Responsibilities: • Prepare weekly updates, reports and staff professional development training content as guided by the director • Lead communication with funders and government officials with aim of growing partnership and sustaining funding • Interpret and advise EAF on government policies related to NGOs operation and ensure staff adherence to organization policy. • Respond to program-related inquiry and partnerships. • Assist with documenting and submitting quarterly reports and annual reports to relevant stakeholders. • Represent Eleazar African Foundation program management at inter-agency external technical workshops and conferences.

Health Programs • Worked with DHO, Health Assistants and VHTs to conduct community sensitization on COVID-19 prevention, hygiene and sanitation (Received best NGO award). • Coordinated and facilitated integrated health out reaches too hard to reach communities during and after COVID-19. • Conducted Bi-annual medication examination and treatment to 900 project children • Coordinated with DHOs office and lower Health centers to Train youth groups on ASRH & GBV prevention. Child Protection and Child Safeguarding. • Conducted child protection awareness through radio, educating caregivers, parents and stakeholders on their roles and responsibilities. • Managed to establish and sustain Child Wellbeing committees, meetings at the sub counties and district levels. • With the support of senor probation officer, child protection actors managed to develop district child protection referral pathway that was utilized by structures to refer and report VAC cases. • Coordinated with senior probation officers, CDO, CFPU to hold community dialogues, workshops on CP & GBV. Basic Education Program & ECD • Facilitated the formation of readers & writers clubs in the three-project supported primary schools in Katakwi.
