Pride Microfinance Ltd (MDI) is the leading Microfinance Deposit- taking institution (MDI) in Uganda and is regulated and supervised by Bank of Uganda (BoU) under the MDI Act, 2003 and MDI Regulations, 2004. As Network Officer at such a crucial time when the institution is at a turning point of its digitalization journey, I was privileged to diligently deliver on a number of mission critical tasks/projects.

The program provides graduates with durable knowledge needed to become leaders in the rapidly evolving discipline of Computer Science as well as in other computer-related fields. It exposes students to a solid foundation in both Computer Science theory and programming practice, and to prepare each graduate for further advanced study in Computer Science and related fields.
This course, Implementing and Administering Cisco Solutions (CCNA), equips the candidate' withknowledge and skills related to network fundamentals, network access, IP connectivity, IP services, security fundamentals, and automation and programmability.
Work & Experience
Pride Microfinance Ltd (MDI) is the leading Microfinance Deposit- taking institution (MDI) in Uganda and is regulated and supervised by Bank of Uganda (BoU) under the MDI Act, 2003 and MDI Regulations, 2004. As Network Administrator at such a crucial time when the institution is at a turning point of its digitalization journey, I was privileged to diligently deliver on the following mission critical tasks/projects: Achievements: • Setup (configured) and deployed routers and switches for new with emphasis on secure communications using site to site VPN tunnels – and also branches and replaced End of Life equipment in some branches. • Undertook troubleshooting of and restored VPN tunnels for partners e.g. CraftSilicon, URA, NIRA/NITA etc – post security breach incidents. • Created Site to Site VPN tunnels to Partners to support new products and services e.g. Wendi, Mobi-loans, Digital Field Applications (DFAs) etc. • Deployed FortiGate Data Center and F5 Web Applications firewalls at the Primary and Data Recovery (DR) Data Center. • Undertook Network Segmentation at the Head Office, Primary and Data Recovery (DR) Data Centers of the institution for heightened Network Security. • Coordinated link set up and connectivity tests ahead of and Collocated the Data Recovery (DR) Data Center to RAXIO Data facility. • Supported users in troubleshooting and resolving network connectivity and authentication issues. • Computed monthly service rebates and processed payments for the institution’s 4 ISPs on over 60 network links. • Supported ISPs to deploy MPLS & Leased Line Point to Point Links for secure connectivity of the new branches to the institution’s data Centers. • Organized and chaired monthly ISP service review meetings with the 4 ISPs. • Monitored network uptime on over 60 network links and notified service providers of downtime. • Migrated the Airtel and MTN branch leased-line links from L2 to L3 for reliable network uptime, monitoring and quality of service. Also negotiated migration of the MTN branch leased-line links from L2 to L3 as well. • Carried out quarterly Preventive Maintenance (PM) of the Primary and Data Recovery Data Centers as well as Branch Server Rooms. • Adjusted Branch Router and Perimeter Firewall Access Lists to improve security and optimize user experience. • Supported ICT projects e.g. Imperva Server deployments, by provisioning for them on the institution’s network.
Uganda Youth Network (UYONET) is a regional focused leading umbrella Youth CSO Network that works to mainstream young peoples’ engagement in development and governance processes in East Africa and beyond. Achievements: • Setup (configured), Monitored and maintained UYONET’s computer systems and networks including Wi-Fi routers (WAN), LAN, Access Points, PABX, Office Phone Line, Laptops, Desktops, Peripherals etc: • Regulated, Installed, Upgraded and Configured computer and server hardware, software (operating systems – Windows 10 & Enterprise Server 2016 – and applications) for UYONET secretariat and member organizations, • Supported the procurement of a new Server (Dell Power Edge) and setup services to support the day-to-day work at office including, but no limited to, work folders, antivirus, centralized automatic Data backup, Centralized Accounting System, DHCP and Active Directory services, • Supported the procurement of 4 service providers including Internet Service Provider (ISP), Website Developer, Android App Developer & Cloud data BackUp services, drew up their contracts and supervised their delivery on the contracts. • Set up new users' domain accounts, work folders and profiles for the 21 users at secretariat and, deal with sign in credentials / password issues, • Created and continually updated and maintained an up to date inventory of all UYONET Secretariat’s ICT assets, software licenses, network documentation etc. • Supported the development and roll-out of 3 new applications at the UYONET secretariat: tested and evaluated new technology, and ICT platforms and recommended upgrades to management, • Recommended and facilitated the installation of high speed (up to 40MBps optical fiber) Office Internet to meet UYONET’s staff needs for effective delivery of their day to day duties and, • Ensuring value for money in all ICT procurements by supporting the planning, budgeting and procurement processes of 20 ICT equipment, 3 softwares and 2 services including cloud backup, website development, ISP etc for the organisation, • Responded and resolved support queries and issues especially pertaining to accounting system and reliable secure communication issues, • Setup and Managed Secure Network Firewall (Cisco), VPNs, routine System & Data Back-ups and, rapid System & Data Recovery Mechanism, • Troubleshot system and network problems, diagnosed and solved hardware and software faults and, provided support, including procedural documentation and relevant reports, • Conducted ICT orientation and training to UYONET’s 21 secretariat staff – Including orienting secretariat staff to the ICT Policy and Procedures manual and ICT advancements that I introduced in the organisation. • Ensured strict adherence of all organization employees and visitors to the guidelines stipulated in the ICT policy and procedures manual, • Ensured that all software installed in office equipment is licensed and up-to-date, • Supervised and offered effective mentorship to ICT volunteers and Interns.

The institution operates across 11 countries, touching the lives of 1 in every 55 people and have achieved success on a massive scale, bringing life-saving health programmes to millions of the world’s poorest people. Achievements: • Supported the development of the Medic Mobile and Health Information Management System (HMIS) through testing and trouble shooting for possible errors and, also advise on user requirements. • Trained over 4,000 Community Health Promoters (CHPs) and Project Assistants (PAHs) on how to use the Medic Mobile Android Application and Android Phones. • Supported the roll out of the HMIS through training and offering end user support to the Area Health Coordinators (AHCs), Regional Health Coordinators (RHCs), Regional Health Trainers (RHTs) and PAHs. • Assessed and Addressed Technical Challenges that the Human Resource personnel faced from time to time while using the ERP system. • Assisted in the administration and maintenance of the server room, network and systems components including Switches, Routers, printers, computers etc. • Troubleshot and guided the CHPs, PAHs, AHCs, RHTs and RHCs on how to solve common challenges while using the HMIS, Phone & App. • Troubleshot and Addressed IT Connectivity issues at BRAC Branch, Area and Regional Offices in the Mbarara Region. • Effected updates of the M-Health application in CHPs android phones whenever available.
Uganda Youth Network (UYONET) is a regional focused leading umbrella Youth CSO Network that works to mainstream young peoples’ engagement in development and governance processes in East Africa and beyond. Achievements: • Recommended, assisted with technical specifications, supported the procurement of, evaluated and set up new ICT equipment acquired for the organization. • Facilitated and Supported the Setup of, Secured, monitored, maintained and ensured the smooth operation of the Internal Server, office LANs and WANs, phone systems and intercoms. • Drew-up terms of reference (TOR) and service agreements for ICT service providers including web development & hosting, development of policies and strategies, provision of Internet services etc. • Created and continuously revised and updated the UYONET LAN infrastructure, Devices and logistics database / inventory and Network (Network Documentation). • Supported the development of a secure online communication database and system for the organization, including management of staff domain e-mail addresses and mailing lists. • Performed regular and periodic preventive maintenance and trouble shooting of office ICT infrastructure and, advised accordingly on any upgrades and repairs to be effected. • Oversaw UYONET’s ICT equipment inventory (database) as well as allocation and use of equipment. • Developed staff orientation and ICT training manuals and materials and, conducted ICT training for staff. • Offered ICT end-user training and support services to UYONET’s secretariat and member organizations. • Supported the development of UYONET’s 2013 – 2017 strategic plan, annual work plans and budgets for 2014 and 2015, procurement plans for 2014 and 2015. • Coordinated and corresponded ICT related engagements of the organization especially among member and partner organizations.
