Ensure that the foundation complies with laws and regulations, such as those related to nonprofit governance, charitable solicitations, tax laws, and employment. Draft and Review Documents: Draft, review, and approve contracts, policies, agreements, and other legal documents. Mitigate Risks: Identify potential legal risks and recommend strategies to minimize them. Provide Guidance: Offer legal advice to the board and management on issues such as intellectual property, liabilities, employment laws, and fundraising regulations. Help set the organization’s mission, vision, and long-term goals, ensuring alignment with its charitable purpose. Policy Development: Contribute to the creation and revision of policies governing the organization’s operations. Financial Oversight: Provide input on budgeting, fundraising, and resource allocation to ensure the foundation's sustainability. Advocate and Represent: Act as an ambassador for the charity, building relationships with stakeholders, donors, and partners. Collaborate with other committee members on important decisions, such as program initiatives, partnerships, and expansion.
