Location & Size
Kitgum District, has a total land area of of 4,042 square kilometers, lies in the Acholi sub-region in Northern Uganda. Kitgum District comprising of two counties Chua East and Chua West Counties. Kitgum District is located between Longitude 320E and 340E and Latitude 020N and 040 N. It is bordered by the Republic of Southern Sudan to the north, Karenga District to the east, Kotido District to the South East, Agago District to the South, Pader District to the Southwest and Lamwo District to the Northwest.
Population & Culture
The 2014 Population Census Final Results put Mukono’s population at 599,817 and the projected population at 601,516 by mid 2015 (including Municipal council)
Culture
Mukono district forms part of Ssaza Kyaggwe a Buganda Government headed by Ssekiboobo, with a cosmopolitan population. Major tribes include Baganda, Basoga, Bagisu, Bagwere, Bakiga, Banyankole, Banyarwanda, Lugbara, Banyoro, and Batooro. Luganda is the language commonly spoken. English is the official language used
