About Company

32 years as a global advocate for women’s rights
In an increasingly challenging world for women and girls, women’s rights organisations and feminist movements remain places of care and defiance, supporting their communities and leading the resistance to the rollback of women’s rights.

For over 32 years, Womankind’s mission has been to strengthen a diverse mix of women’s rights organisations and movements to bring about advances in women’s rights; particularly in areas related to violence against women and girls, women’s economic rights and political and civic participation.

As we begin our new strategy, and look to our feminist future, we will continue to take collective action alongside partners to end gender inequality, fund and strengthen movements and advocate for change alongside them.

Making change happen in 2021/22
In 2021/22, Womankind resourced women’s rights organisations to be catalysts and drivers of change and  deepened our commitment to providing feminist movements with what they need to continue their vital work.

We collaborated with partners to centre diverse women’s voices in international policy and advocacy spaces. We powered feminist movements to create spaces of learning and connection and facilitated projects that ensure the experiences of women with disabilities, LBTQI+ women and Indigenous women are heard by decision makers.

Our partners in Ethiopia, Kenya, Nepal, Zimbabwe and Uganda have influenced changes in policies, laws, attitudes and behaviours that restrict women’s reproductive rights and their ability to own property, and allow a lack of accountability for violence.

Their work is making real, tangible changes.

In our impact report for 2021/22, you will see some of the ways that Womankind and our partners are transforming the lives of women and their communities.

25,203 individuals were directly supported through our projects with partners
The impact of women’s movements is vast. Last year, 898,619 individuals were indirectly supported through our work.
We funded 38 partners representing diverse women’s rights organisations across five countries
Of these, we supported 23 partners with £236,741 through new flexible funds – the Her Voice Fund, the Movement Strengthening Fund and Nepal COVID Resilience Grants
Together with our partners, we influenced the agenda at international advocacy events, centring the voices of diverse women to ensure their expertise and experience are being heard.
