Job Description

The responsibilities of the position are to be performed in accordance with the provisions of Acacia
‘Employment Contract’ & the ‘Terms of Service’.
Job Purpose
● To carry out the duties of PE teacher under the direction of the Junior School Principal.
● For ISSAK the supervisor will be the Sports Director
● To promote the aims and objectives of the school and maintain its philosophy of
education and Christian witness

Main Duties and Responsibilities
Typically as a Junior School PE teacher you will be required to:
● Teach physical education classes from Early Years to Grade 5
● Have a love of the subject and a high regard for the learning environment and resources.
● Aspire to be a talented, dynamic and ambitious teacher, who will ensure good progress
for all students.
● Have the ability to inspire, engage and enthuse young students.
● Fostering independent and collaborative student-led learning.
● Use áppropriate sports equipment and resources to deliver the curriculum.
● Be able to develop, plan and deliver effective and high quality learning experiences to all
students.
● Be an aspirational professional who is enthusiastic, influential and committed to working
in pursuit of excellence for Acacia International School and its learners.
● Be part of a team which enforces high standards of behavior and pushes students to
achieve their very best.
● Along with the Sports Director, observe and support JS external coaches.
● Oversee JS swimming rotas and coach schedules.
● Oversee and regularly review PE curriculum taught at Junior School
● Be involved in ISAAK, attending ISAAK meetings when asked by the Sports Director.
● Order/procure new sports equipment and keep quarterly inventory lists of all JS sports
equipment.
● Help organize Acacia sporting events including Sports Day, Inter-house sporting
activities and the Swim Gala.
● Facilitate mandatory training for new coaches (Child Protection, First Aid)
● Due to the nature of this job PE teachers are frequently required to work irregular hours,
staying after school hours and attending weekend games. This time can be
compensated during the week (time off in lieu) in prior agreement with the JS Principal.
● Any other reasonable duties assigned by the Principal, including supervision of students
in play areas, assisting with chapel, accompanying students on field trips and to events
outside of the Acacia campus.
