Job Description
To safely and efficiently drive vehicles through the inspection lane, collaborating with inspectors to ensure accurate assessments, while maintaining a professional and respectful demeanor, and adhering to safety regulations and procedures
Key Duties:
Safely drive and position vehicles through the inspection lane.
Collaborate with vehicle inspectors to ensure accurate and efficient assessment of vehicle roadworthiness.
Follow standard operating procedures for inspection workflow, ensuring vehicles are lined up and handled in a timely manner.
Operate vehicles with both manual and automatic transmission.
Ensure that all vehicles are secured and parked safely post-inspection.
Identify and report any noticeable vehicle defects or hazards to the inspection team.
Maintain a log of vehicles driven, including time, type, and any irregularities observed.
Report any incidents or unusual findings to the supervisor promptly.
Handle clients’ vehicles respectfully and professionally.
Offer basic guidance to the public on inspection processes when required.
Adhere to Uganda’s road safety and traffic regulations at all times.
Person Specifications:
Essential Requirements
Diploma/Certificate mechanical in mechanical or automotive engineering or equivalent.
A valid Ugandan Driving License with the following groups of motor vehicles A, B, C, CE, D and DE.
At least 5 years of experience.
Desirable Requirements
Training in Occupational Health and Safety
Certification in vehicle inspection (where applicable) is an added advantage.
Previous experience with SGS Automotive Uganda in a similar role is desired.
