Job Description

Establish and implement a framework for managing financial crime risks. Embed the framework to ensure that both internal and external Compliance requirements are met. Establish close working relationships with Business Units and external stakeholders to ensure the financial crime risk management framework is supported. Deliver valued advice to management on financial crime issues.

Regulatory

Localization of all Fin Crime policies and standards incorporating regulatory requirements.
Effective socialization and communication of new Regulatory requirements to business.
Management of Regulatory Inspections and Engagements.

Reporting

Complete required reports; KRI’s and KPI’s in a diligent manner.
Ensure all reporting is completed and submitted timeously and accurately (all periodic submissions)
To facilitate and manage all Financial Crime Training statistics inclusive of MI format and frequency.

Policies

To facilitate and embed policies, processes and business requirements to ensure that the risk is sufficiently mitigated.
Ensure effective implementation of Financial Crime policies and procedures.

Advisory

Subject matter expert advisory on ABC, Sanctions and AML. Advice and guidance on complex matters.
support business in the effective management of financial crime compliance risks

Issues and Breach Management

Escalate Issues and Breaches appropriately
Track issues and breaches and determine the need for adjustment of Financial Crime controls
Coordinate delivery of financial crime related reviews, audits and inspections and ensure all relevant stakeholders are informed of outcomes

Training

Identify training needs for business on an annual basis and escalate to Compliance & financial Crime learning team for inclusion in training plan
Arrange refresher training where required
Produce ongoing and relevant alerts and guidance
Maintain summaries of the local regulatory environment to be communicated to business stakeholders Regulatory.

Risk Assessment
Maintain an up to date understanding of the business in order to best identify Financial Crime risks.
Monitor key business metrics and reports.
Support DMLRO with conducting the annual enterprise wide financial crime risk assessments and ensure these are reported timely to relevant stakeholders

Education and experience required
B-degree in Commerce, Finance, Accounting or Law (NQF level no.     )
At least 5 years’ experience in banking or similar field.
Knowledge and skills: (Maximum of 6).
Specialist knowledge of AML, Sanctions and related policies and standards.
Sound knowledge of AML and Sanctions regulatory frameworks.
Good understanding of the banking industry/financial sector.
Strong Risk Management Skills.
Professional AML/Compliance Certification is an added advantage.
